Counseling Children, Adults, Relationships, and Environments... Counseling CARE from surviving to thriving!
Children and youth: Children speak through play, and teens share through activities. I can find patterns in their interactions to understand their experiences and help them process through their struggles using these unique forms of counseling. Plus, I can teach caregivers some of the same skills to use at home so that we are all on the same team to help support them in feeling like they have control over their own worlds through finding their voices and making good choices.
Adults: Sometimes we know exactly when things went wrong, and sometimes we feel like we’ve been on autopilot for as long as we can remember and don’t know how we got lost. When things aren’t right, our whole being is impacted. By using a holistic lens through which to examine your physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual, and financial well-being, we will work through a strength based, step by step solution focused approach to resetting your goals and restarting your direction... because you can reclaim your life at any time.
Relationships: Do you have a good relationship that is just going through a hard time? Or maybe you want to simply feel connected again, no matter what that means? Relationships are hard and they take lots of work. And when something is impacting one person, it hurts everyone else involved, also, and the whole system changes because of it. I know it’s not easy to invite someone into your private struggles, but I would be honored to be able to offer a third party perspective to mediate your individual experiences and communication differences to understand each other and see eye to eye again. I have a tangible process we will work through to apply towards reframing, readjusting, reconnecting, and rebuilding so your relationship is better than it has ever been.
Environments: We live in a place where an abundant life is right at our fingertips as opportunities for adventure, beauty, and connection spring forth from our environment. And in so many ways, where we live has a direct impact on how we live! Likewise, unfortunately, we suffer when our environment is struggling… with chaos and clutter; by being over-scheduled, overworked, and exhausted; through lack of connection and disengagement; in boredom and monotony. Too much or too little stress in our environments and our community is harmful for us and can keep us from healthy opportunities and positive growth. However, all individuals have strengths and all environments hold resources, even in the most bleak of situations. I can help identify the strengths and resources that can we can tap into to help enhance our lives that are available in our micro (individual), mezzo (small group) and macro (broader community) support systems through a well-defined process that consists of engagement, assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and follow-up. Through personalized services to fit your environment, you can benefit from being comfortable in your own home while working towards your personal growth in a place that allows you to be safe, strong, healthy, and happy.
Payment Options:
I operate as a private pay out-of-network provider. There are many reasons mental health professionals do not join insurance panels, and to me personally, the most important being that the in-network filing process usually requires a significant breach of client confidentiality. For example, to meet the requirements for in-network reimbursement, the counselor must submit an official client diagnosis and an ongoing progress report, treatment plan, etc. Such information requires that the therapist divulge a good deal of personal information about the client, which then becomes part of his or her permanent medical record which can be accessed by others. This is why I have chosen not to be on insurance panels. There is no way to ensure client confidentiality when a client files insurance claims.
Instead, I can provide clients all necessary information to file for their own insurance reimbursement. Generally speaking, most insurance companies will pay a percentage of each session after they meet with their deductible. Typically, insurance companies reimburse clients at a 80/20, 70/30, or 60/40 where they reimburse for the majority of the costs based on the individual plan you carry. If an insurance company says that these services won’t be covered because they are out-of-network, you may complete a Network Deficiency provision with proof of what makes these services be important, which will allow the out-of-network cost to be covered. In addition, many clients have utilized their FLEX spending accounts to pay for services.
My session rates start at $150 for one 50-minute session, which takes into account financial obligations such as professional liability insurance that protects both the clinician and the client, supplies and resources used with the client to meet their treatment goals, administrative support for the client, time given towards supporting the client in and out of session, as well as the credentials and expertise of the clinician. However, I welcome clients to have a conversation with me if the amount is a concern, and I have numerous referral options in specialized areas that I can gladly connect you to so you’re fully supported for your needs if that’s the most appropriate option.
